Few things to remember to start of with: Unseen mosquito bites at night, light abrasions on left hand, sunburn on neck, fatigue!...
This camp really was quite rewarding for me: Enduring...perservering...enjoying it despite how HOT Jalan Bahtera is, although it is the suitable temperature to dry your towel lols..
I was in Group 10, named Phelps...
First night was quite hectic, ran a few rounds round the track for some were late...and the 15-click walk from PJC to Jalan Bahtera MOE Camp was really FAR...
We set off at 8:15pm.......paired up with Group 9, walked and walked until Lim Chu Kang Road and until there...in the near-darkness and danger of walking by roadsides due to vehicles...even walked past Tengah Air Base where my bro is working until he has ORD lols...
We even walked past cemetries..Chinese, Malay...the lot...as well as farms or something like that.
Oh yes...also saw Mr Ching with one of the groups that went ahead first...here to exercise as he said...that's a way of keeping fit...
My bag was seriously heavy...sleeping bag inside as well...and fyi, it's the army field camp bag that my bro used during his BMT...the load on the shoulders was really heavy...luckily the legs weren't as tired until the end part.
Our map had a few problems...the lane supposed to lead left to the camp didn't even exist...got stuck at a T-junction...until the other group came along and we all walked on straight...until we entered the compound...the moonlight was bright enough for me to see without the torchlight...no night-blindness yeah...
Once we were in the camp, we discussed a bit of the campfire programme and lay down our heads on our stuff and took a nap until 3am...last few groups not here yet...no choice of waiting again. Debriefed and lights off at 3:15am...seriously tired...and had to report at 6am after that...While sleeping...the last few groups came...at 4 plus! really pity them sia...as they got a little lost..you have to admit how tiring it is to trek, plan and see the correct route in the early morning...
ok...have to sleep already...will report the other stuff tmr...
cyas...long day today...
